Professor Tore Bengtsson

Professor Tore Bengtsson will present his newly published method for method for assaying thermogenic activity in murine and human adipocytes that offers considerable advantages when compared to more conventional respirometric approaches allowing for the use of floating cells and a higher throughput. Using direct calorimetric measurements of heat production, Begtsson and his team have established the fundamental importance of UCP1 in catalysing adrenergic induced thermogenic responses in isolated brite adipocytes ex vivo.
