Our colleague Dr. Karin Gillner recently had a feature article on brown fat treatment research published in Journal for Clinical Studies.
Karin showcased how isothermal microcalorimetry can be a solution to the problem of measuring thermogenesis in beige/brite adipose tissue cells by enabling direct and continuous measurement of heat production.
As the induction of browning in subcutaneous white adipose tissue leads to obesity resistance and improved insulin sensitivity, enabling better research with the use of novel technologies and instruments could be the answer to improving treatment for a number of metabolic disorders.
An instrument like Symcel’s calScreener™ can provide higher throughput, the possibility to use lower sample volumes and true phenotype-based measurements, instead of the proxy ones used today.
