In this webinar you will hear about:

What is a biofilm in vitro and in vivo and why does it matter?

Why understanding metabolism is crucial to understanding bacterial behaviour in biofilms.

How to measure the metabolism of biofilms using the calScreener™.

How to differentiate similar metabolic fingerprints to reveal subtle metabolic differences.

Metabolic ‘fingerprint’ of Pseudomonas aeruginosa as single cells and in biofilm

Come and join our webinar where Professor Thomas Bjarnsholt and Dr. Mads Lichtenberg will discuss their newly published method for measuring the metabolism of a Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm. Metabolism has been under explored in biofilm research due to a lack of easy-to-use tools to directly and quickly measure the metabolic state of bacterial cells. Using the calScreener, the research team from the University of Copenhagen were able to see differences in the metabolic profiles dependent on the environmental conditions such as access to oxygen. The research team were able to get granular differentiation of different metabolic profiles by using an algorithm to automatically separate the data and highlight subtle changes in the metabolism.
