New instrument in Professor Müller’s lab at Helmholtz Institute

Symcel’s CEO & CSO during their visit at Professor Müller’s lab.

Internationally leading group at the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS) has acquired a calScreener to be used in their screening of novel antimicrobials.

Last week, our CEO Dr. Jesper Ericsson and CSO Dr. Magnus Jansson, visited HIPS and met with the team and the group’s leader, Professor Rolf Müller, in order to finalize the details and discuss future collaboration.

Prof. Müller’s research is centered around the development of new antibiotics that can help against the antimicrobial resistance crisis. The team is especially focused on the discovery of microbial natural products and will use the calScreener to complement its existing methods for faster development. The use will include classic antimicrobial susceptibility testing as well as quantifying effects in biorelevant infection models.

At Symcel we are very happy to see another key opinion leader within microbiology and antibiotics development use the calScreener and look forward to following the contributions our technology can provide in the context of novel antibiotics.
